org-html-theme Demo

A visual test fixture for the theme

This page is a live demo of org-html-theme, a simple, modern, responsive theme for Emacs Org-mode's HTML export. It exercises every element the theme styles, exported straight from the same examples/demo.org file in the repository, using the theme's own published #+SETUPFILE: line. See the repository's README.md for how to use it in your own files.

1. Overview

This section exists only to give the sidebar enough content to scroll, and to show nested headlines, nested lists, and an internal link.

This paragraph has an inline timestamp, to confirm the theme styles it: a meeting on <2026-10-05 Mon>.

1.1. Background

1.1.1. History

Here is an internal link back to the Overview section.

Here is a deeply nested bullet list:

  • Platform
    • Frontend
      • Components
        • Buttons
        • Forms
    • Backend
      • Services
      • Queues

1.1.2. TODO Motivation   draft review

This headline carries a TODO keyword, a priority, and two tags, to confirm the theme's chip styling.

1.1.3. DONE An earlier step

This headline shows the DONE keyword.

1.2. Inline markup

This paragraph shows bold, italic, underline, verbatim, code, and strikethrough text all in one place.

2. Code

Two source blocks in different languages, to confirm the highlight.js adapter handles more than one src-LANG class on the same page.

(defun org-html-theme-demo ()
  "Return a greeting string."
  (message "Hello from %s" (buffer-name)))
def greet(name: str) -> str:
    """Return a greeting string."""
    return f"Hello, {name}!"

A plain example block, which is not passed to the syntax highlighter:

$ org-export-to-html demo.org
Exporting to demo.html...
Done.

3. Tables

Table 1: A small glossary table
Term Meaning
TOC Table of contents
hljs highlight.js

4. Quotes and verse

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Line one of the verse.
  Line two, indented.
Line three.

5. Notes

This sentence has a footnote reference.1

6. Math

Euler's identity, inline, is \(e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0\). Org adds MathJax to the page automatically whenever a file has a LaTeX fragment like this one, so this needs no setup in `theme.setup`.

\begin{equation} \int_0^\infty e^{-x^2}\,dx = \frac{\sqrt{\pi}}{2} \end{equation}

7. Figure

A simple placeholder diagram

Figure 1: An inline SVG placeholder, no binary asset required.

8. Container class demo

This subtree carries an HTML_CONTAINER_CLASS property, to confirm that a custom container class does not break the theme's styling.
